On one horrible day on the second day of May in 2000, my childhood playmate and my best friend passed away. I was 5 when we got him, my parents named him “Starlah’s Astronomical Delight”, Astro for short. Astro was a beautiful and playful little Sheltie. Astro and I began our relationship that became so thick that not even his death can shake it. He passed away a month shy of my 18th birthday and my high school graduation. To this day he shares a special spot in my heart and
I think of him often.

Today, I’m now 21, and its been a little over 3 years since his passing and the pain is now an occasional ache inside. I now own 2 beautiful dogs that have helped me in my healing process. These dogs are now 3 years old also and I love them dearly. I now own a German Shepherd/Huskie mix named Hogan….and another Sheltie named Toby. I couldn’t have asked for better dogs.

However, Astro will always be in my thoughts, memories and watching over me. I can almost guarantee that Astro played a part on helping me select these dogs. My dogs now carry some of the same characteristics that Astro had…it’s almost like he lives through them in a way.

Astro, if you can hear me now, you were born just a dog but you died the greatest friend I will ever have. I love you dearly honey, and I can’t wait for the day I pass on and meet you at the gates, to hold you again. That’s what I have to look forward to and that’s all I need.

I love you Astro and take care
of Uncle Ed and Grandma Mandish for us.
