You were my hero
In a four-legged form
You protected me first, from the wind, rain and storm.
Though in the end I didn’t take the time to spare
to tell you I love you and I care
to take the time to hold you close and stroke your soft dark fur, I wish now I could, for no longer are you here.
I hope you hear this written prayer, and forgive me for not being there as much as I could, I should have been there, I know you would.
Even when you couldn’t walk, or hardly eat and see, you did your best to protect me, whenever need be.
I miss you now my dear sweet dog
for you did your job with me…
and now I weep for I did not spend my time with thee. From February 96 to December 2004 you were there for me, and of that you made sure.
This poetic prayer may seem unrhymed or bad, but it came from my heart, and because of that I am glad.
