Bess by Linda

Bess

We went to the beach today Bess
You traveled upon my knee.
We took you to that special place
The place you loved to be.
The weather was very kind to us
We did not feel the cold.
I carried you down the sloping path
To the place you felt so bold.
I imagined you paddling in the sea
To that stick that we would throw
And you would swim however
far to bring it back for me
We scattered your ashes upon the sand
And the water took them away.
We took you to that special place
With some words I wanted to say
Thanks for the years you spent with us
All special precious and true.
If you were here right now with me
I know what I would do
IÆd cuddle you in my arms and say
I love you Bess so much
IÆd stroke your head so lovingly
Those purses of silk I would touch.
Oh thank you Bess for those lovely years
Each one of them a pleasure.
I will see you one day again I know
A moment I will treasure.
Until that day my sweet sweet Bess
I know you will stay in my heart.
IÆll close my eyes and think of you
Like we have never been apart.
We went to the beach today Bess
You traveled upon my knee.
Goodnight God bless.
