Yesterday has passed it's come and gone.
I had to leave this world and all I owned.
I find myself here no one in sight.
until I see over the hill a colorful light.
It's a bright rainbow shining across the sky.
so far away and so very high.
I walk a little closer and what do I see?
It's a little girl and she is calling me.
She talked of the kitten that she once had.
How she longed to see her how it made her sad.
She said there was a place just over the hill.
where her kitten was playing and she was thrilled.
When I took the last step on that hill up high.
I could not believe what I saw with my eyes.
There were people maybe thousands scattered across the land.
I stood there amazed then she took my hand.
She asked if I had a pet when I was alive.
I said "yes are they here?" She said "I have a surprise."
I told her their names she began calling out loud.
Then one came running from out of the crowd.
Then off in the distance another familiar sound came.
A bark then a howl I began shouting their names.
She said "take care now," "Its easy you see."
"I just kept calling and my kitten came to me."
Not much time passed when all of them were there.
It was a long tearful reunion of memories we shared.
Once I welcomed each one back into my life.
I got up to leave with them jumping by my side.
We crossed a quiet meadow with flowers in bloom.
then over a bridge where we found some room.
to hug once more and play in the soft grass.
beside a winding stream where time slowly passed.
Back down in that valley I saw the little girl once more.
I said "I just wanted to thank you" and she said "what for?"
I said "For showing me that place just over the ridge".
She said "Sir you don't have to this is Rainbow Bridge."
