General came to me as a puppy. He was the cutest little Black Lab you ever saw. He slept beside me in a laundry basket with a blanket in the bottom. He was so little he could not climb out. But then, he got bigger, and bigger and bigger, topping out at 120 lbs of Black Lab. General was not a people dog. He loved us and accepted our grown children and grandkids, but stranger beware! General was a watchdog. I had no concerns while General was on the job. He did not miss anything. General lived with us for 12 1/2 years. His decline was gradual. Hip dysplasia and arthritis finally got the best of him. He was put to sleep February 23, 2007. I miss him so very much. When I played my guitar, General would lay his head close to the instrument.

He loved the sound of the guitar. He loved mooching snacks as well. He had my wife pretty well trained to get him a doggy bone whenever he felt the need. It was most entertaining watching him play her like a xylophone. He knew exactly how to make her get up and go get him a biscuit! General, you were a good boy and I love you. I miss you every day. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

I will always love you buddy, and I’ll see you before long in heaven, God willing. Until then, go run and play with all my other friends who preceded you there, Terry, Mickey, Vulcan, Madison, Buttons ,Pickles and Fred. I am old and tired now and my time on this earth is short. I pray that we will all be together again in the hereafter. Dear Lord, let it be so.

With all my love,
Daryl Price
