Oreo was a black burmese born in the spring of 1986. He was given to us by a friend, along with his sister. They both were black; beautiful cats with green eyes. Oreo had a small patch of white on his neck and his chest, thus my husband said we should name him “Oreo”.

Oreo was a very loving cat; such a ham. He would sleep under the covers beside my husband. He would even watch television! Dean always said “Oreo is my cat”. We lived in Nichols, SC at this time and we never had Oreo “fixed”. I had intended to do it so many times so he would stay at home and not wander.

We moved back to Mullins, SC in October of 1989. On December 15, 1989, he came in the house when I came home from work, ate something, hopped in my lap and slept for some time. He later went out before it got dark and was killed on the highway crossing the street. Dean walked down, picked him up off the street and walked back home with him. He buried him in our backyard.

I think of him often, how special he is to us and how he added joy to our lives. There will never be another “Oreo”.
We love you!

Love you,
