Squeaker was born on May 3, 1988 in Nichols, SC. She was a gray tabby with white feet and white on her nose. She was always a playful, but mischievous cat. If you didn’t get up when she wanted something to eat, she would rattle the window shades or pat your head with her paw or knock something off the nightstand until you got up
to feed her each morning.
She loved food; her food, your food, everybody’s food. She would eat string beans, corn on the cob, ice cream, just because she thought she should eat everything that we ate. She would sit with us each day and sleep with us at night. She always wanted to sleep on my pillow and turn her face towards me. She would sit with me each morning as I was getting ready for work. She was a very loving cat.
On January 1, 2004, we moved to Sarasota, FL and of course, our cats went with us. They were confused about what we were doing but they made the trip successfully, even if they did have to ride in a pet carrier. Squeaker had been losing weight, but she did not act like she was sick. On September 19, 2004, she could not stand on her own. We held her, talked to her and petted her, as her breathing became labored and with Dean’s arms around her, she slowly slipped away.
We are so blessed to have had her for 16 years, but oh, we would have loved to have had her so many more years. Her mother, Puffalump, who is now 18 years old, still lives with us and she knows that something is missing. We love you, “Squeaky Mouse” and we will never forget you. Forever in our hearts, you will stay.
With all our love,
Dean & Cathy Ray |
