A TRIBUTE TO MY BEST FRIENDS

I look into the future

And I don't like what I see.

I still can see myself

But you are no longer there with me.

Your laughing eyes and wiggle-butts

Your chewies on the floor.

All the things I love about you

Are not there anymore.

You both have always been beside me

In the present and the past.

I only see darkness in my future

Because your time with me won't last.

From the time that you were puppies

I always knew that you would die.

The very thought of being without you

Makes me sob and start to cry.

Everyday is priceless

And we live like they're our last.

For that day you close your eyes forever

Is approaching ever fast...

You have far surpassed what friendship means

Always standing by my side.

Never criticizing me for my mistakes

And never injuring my pride.

Now I see you slowing down

Your muzzles are showing gray.

I cannot even imagine

The day that you won't play.

It fills my heart with sorrow

And causes physical pain.

Just merely knowing

I'll never look into your eyes again.

I promise to be by your side

Until the very end.

Thank you both for teaching me

The truest meaning of a FRIEND!
