She came to us because someone
dumped her in the city.
She had been abused and abandoned.
I was a cat person and
had never had a dog.
She had spent at least 2 years
outside in the cold Minnesota winters.
You could tell by
the thick matted coat she had.
She was a border collie.

From the first time I saw
her my heart was hers.
She needed me, I needed her.
She became my best friend for 20 years.
My family came and went
but Cleo remained ever faithful.

The last year of her life
she was so sick I made
all of her meals, hamburger and
rice then laid on the floor
to hand feed her.
I could not imagine life with out her
I just kept hanging on loving her.
I would lay on the floor
next to her and thank her
for letting me into her life.
She was loved by so many because
she loved so many.

Your free now my darling.
No more pain. I see you running
in fields of green and fishing
with Dad. Yours was the first face
I saw in the morning and
the last before I went to bed.
Your paw print is forever in my heart.
Time will never change that.

My Love Eternally,

Mom
