Sam did a lot of living in his 14 years. His first 5 years were spent as a racing Greyhound. I understand he was a fine racer before injuries took their toll. Sam endured lots of hardship after his retirement from racing. At one point he was abandoned and homeless,
left to wander the streets of Miami.
I adopted Sam when he was 7 years old. He required special care that stemmed from years of abuse and neglect. Several attempts to place him in a permanent home had failed. When Sam was brought out to meet us he ran straight to me. It was if he knew I would be one to care and shelter him for the remainder of his life. Sam’s life with me was
filled with love, not hardships.
Sam dearly loved to go for auto rides and that is how I’ll remember him best. He was my constant travel companion even on long trips.
In the end Sam grew old, weak and very ill and had to be put to sleep.
I’ll dearly miss him.
-Because of the love and loyalty
Sam showed me I recently rescued another Greyhound.
Until we meet again,
