I dedicate this Reflections of Time
to my husbands, Jerry, faithful shop dog,
Buster, that left our world on Tuesday, March 11, 2003.
For as long as I can remember, Buster has been at the shop. He was 17 years old. Buster had a hard life but a life that he loved. He was the protector of Jerry’s business and property.
Over the years, everyone that came around loved him, he would steer off people he didn’t know and come up to the ones he did know with a wagging tail and friendly smile. Other dogs have come and gone thru the years but Buster was always there.
Thru the years Buster had been run over several times, accidentally, overcame heart worms and fights with other dogs
protecting his master’s property.
His hind quarters were crippled from arthritis and old age. When all work was completed for the day, the group of workers sat down to enjoy a break and a beer, Buster was always there. I do not remember how he aquired a taste for beer, maybe someone spilled some on the floor? Whatever the case maybe, Buster loved beer! We do believe that towards the end, the beer helped the pain in his crippled body.
Tuesday morning when Jerry got to work, there was blood everywhere, a terrible fight had taken place. A female dog that was in heat had broken loose from a gated area on the property along with her male companion. I need not explain in details, we all know what happened!
Buster was still alive but torn up badly. His crippled body did not have the strength to defend himself. Jerry did all he could for him. He wagged his tail and later hobbled to a cool place in the shop. He was found dead. He died a fighting dog, fighting for the love of his master and space.
The UNCONDITIONAL LOVE he gave us and everyone around will never be forgotten. He will stay with us in our hearts forever.
To the BEST shop dog EVER*!*!*!*!*!*!
