IN REMEMBRANCE OF My Number one “WHATLEY”

BY JOHN WALTER HARTZ

******************

You came to me, a mere eight weeks old
A tiny waif, but ‘oh’ so bold
You fit right in, with Felix too
My 2 Orange tabby’s, the perfect duo

Equal time, I gave my affection
But Whatley commanded more my attention
He grew to be twice the size of his bro
A giant feline, with a kind heart and soul
Always friendly and willing to meet
He was by far, among the elite.

Always there to console when I’m sad
A perfect companion, my home was HIS pad
he gave me so much, his 18 years plus
twas not easy to let go, but no more was there ‘us’

I said my goodbyes, and gave him up to the shot
His ashes will be mine, to be ne’r forgot
Set beside felix, his brother in arms
Together forever, my two worthy charms
