Duke was our first Boxer. He came here on June 6, 1990. This Boxer had class and personality. He loved Notre Dame Football, and had a Notre Dame Football and a Notre Dame Football Jersey. We called him the K-9 Gipper. Duke loved the Holidays. On Thanksgiving, he would come out in the Kitchen and sniff the over door as I looked at the Turkey roasting. Oh that Pumpkin Pie in his eyes too. He loved to eat.

During Advent and Christmas, he took in this Holiday like no other. He loved to go with Tom and cut the Christmas Tree down. He helped in his”doggy ways”. He would sit my the fireplace and stare at his Christmas Sock wanting a treat all season long. One Christmas I sang at Midnight Mass, and when we came home he had all his gifts opened up. He loved his gifts. When we started to take the tree down and undeck the house, he would look at us as if to say,” Deck The Hals Again” “Get those goodies in my sock and gifts back under the tree.” He hated to say good bye to Christmas. Duke always had a smile on his face even on the day he passed and new he was ready. His life was full and had a good life with us here on Walnut Dr.

We will miss our Boxer, and because of his greatness, we will always have a Boxer here in this house. Love ya Duke, Ma Baird
