by Lisa / Lisa, Michael, Sabrina and Kirby

Our Lucy girl was just 11 years old when she passed on suddenly. Although we knew someday she would go, we were not prepared. She has been gone less than 48 hours and we are still hurting. The house seems empty. We miss the way
she would open up doors and poke her head in.

We miss the way she nudged us with her snout and demanded to be petted and when we stopped would nudge us again. We miss the way she would roll on her back for a good belly rub. We miss the way she ran and tried to hide in small places during thunderstorms.

We miss her sighs when she didn’t get her way. We miss the warm welcome whenever we came back home. We miss her “seal” noises when she tried to tell us something.

We miss how she gave us her paws without asking to wipe them when she came in from the rain. We miss her giving us her right paw and then her left paw for a biscuit. We miss her in the room at night snoring!

We miss the way she took Kirby’s biscuits
when he wasn’t looking and
gave us that “well you snooze, you lose” look.

We will be picking up Lucy’s ashes next week and we have already purchased an urn. We will be holding a memorial for her next week.

Having a dog part of your family gives pleasure and joy, but it is also heart wrenching when they pass on.

Always in our Hearts,
Lisa
