MY LIFE,
by Murphy Johnson Trucks
When I was just a pup, I came to live at the lake
For years I played, chased ducks, squirrels and snakes.
I swam in the lake, even had my own float
Not sure why I never got to ride in the boat.
I had me a girlfriend, she was quite a funny lady
She is waiting in heaven; her name is Sadie.
My parents had to leave and brought me to my new home
Here I made friends and had acres to roam.
My new family loves me more than anything
I take rides in the truck and eat like a King.
They got me some playmates to keep me company
A little funny terrier and one that looks like Mini-me.
They play all the time and one eats like a hog
But I let them know right away; I was Alpha-dog.
I got my own bed and it is big and thick
Not sure what it means, but it is orthopedic.
I got sick one day and Mom & dad took care of me
Took me to the doctor and I had surgery.
They sent something to the lab to try for an answer
When it came back the doctor said “Cancer”
Mom rushed me to Auburn to get real good care
I can’t say enough about the nice people there.
They gave me medicine, blood and good nutrition
Then had a treatment, they called it radiation.
Several weeks later after going back and forth
I got to stay home and celebrate the fourth.
Everyone said that I looked really great
I thought to myself “You would too if dad fed YOU steak!
We have been through a lot, you and me through the years
Good times, bad times and you laughing through tears.
After eleven or so years on this place we call Earth
God is taking me with him to give my angel its birth.
My body is tired, so I must say Goodbye
Don’t worry about me; I have had a GREAT life.
I will be back someday, not sure how, when or where
But something will happen to let you know it is ME there.
