Today is my birthday. I am a bit sad that my beloved cat Pumpkin is not here. She passed on Nov. 8, 2005. She was my best companion and the funny thing is, when I first saw her about 5 years prior to her passing I thought ‘this is the ugliest cat I have ever seen!!’ Then my friend could not keep her and all of a sudden I fell into a deep love for this beautiful animal and could not see how I had not loved her all along!! She became a spoiled princess and slept on my pillow with me. We had a good five years together. But when I knew she was going to pass, I asked my wonderful landlord, Jerry, if he could make something so that I could bury her on HIS property. He ended up building with wood, a beautiful casket, including a well fitting lid, then stained it and this is what I buried Pumpkin in. But Jerry was not going to have me do this alone, so he used his backhoe and dug deeply into the ground and made a respectable hole. (This loving and funny and beautiful man commited suicide just FOUR months ago). As I sit here on my birthday, I am wishing I could see and hold Pumpkin just one more time. I hope she knows the love I still have for her and will hopefully see her some day.
