After my husband & I got married we decided to get a puppy so I went to my local humane society to see what would suit us. My husband was pretty specific, no rotts, pits, chow, shepherds so I was kind of limited in my choices. About the third afternoon I was there visiting I saw this sweet little fuzzy puppy that could have been mixed with just about anything. I carried him around for about an hour & asked the workers his story. They told me he had been found that afternoon and would be held for 5 days for any possible owners to claim.

I went home that night & talked to my husband again to make sure he was ready for a puppy. The next afternoon I went back to ask to be contacted when the puppy came up for adoption and was told that sadly he had died during the night. I took this as an omen and started looking at the older dogs, kennel after kennel w/ too big, to high strung, not good with other animals, doesn’t like kids….then I came to a kennel and read “Jenny” on the name plate, spayed, housebroken, likes other animals, very friendly. I thought ok, we’ll see. I called out “Jenny” and this beautiful black lab mix came racing over to the gate and the look on her face was like “HI!” I knew right then that she was the one.

She was 8 years old and I knew our time together would not be as long as with a younger dog, but she was mine from the second I saw her. I took her home that day and she was the best dog I ever had. She is completely unreplaceable. We lost Jenny to kidney failure 5 days ago & it was the hardest thing I ever experienced.

She was my angel and I can’t believe she’s gone. I find some solace that we “saved” Jenny and gave her 5 very good years of love and affection and cherished her as our beloved lady dog.

In Loving Memory,

Mom & Dad
