It is dusk now–and so short a day!
Yet as I watch it, I realize
The sun had shone so brilliantly and bright
Its warmth was taken for granted
Its rich nature taken for granted.
It is dusk now–and such a short day
For the animals who live them innocently.
Though they fear, and love and hate as we do
They lived blessed without the clouding
Shroud of guilt that cover us.
The innocence fades like the day now;
And dusk settles in, the sun a blazing wonder
How I wish the dawn would come again
And with the dawn, to hold you in my arms again
To live another day and learn
What innocence can mean.
