A cat was abandoned
By the road today
His selfish people
Just drove away.
He can’t understand
His heart’s filled with pain
Why did they dump him
Out in the rain?
Cold, hungry
Frightened and wet
His first thought’s
Of shelter
On that you can bet.
He curls up to dry
Inside an old log
And to quickly hide
He’s caught scent of a DOG!
How could they
Ever do this to him?
His chance of survival
On his own is slim.
He has no idea
Where he will go
Will his death be quick?
Or painful and slow?
His little life
Soon fades away
Where will his soul go
When he dies today?
He lays down his head
With a last soft cry
His time here is over
Now he must die.
A cat was abandoned
By the road today
He cried in sorrow
As his people drove away…
