Jasper,
It has been one and a half years now since you went,
When it happened I thought all my love was spent,
We love you so much it hurt us so bad,
Because of all the fun and love that we had.
I will never forget the day you looked into my eyes,
I kissed you and hugged you and that came as a surprise,
But you knew just then that my love for you was true,
I could see in your eyes you felt the same too.
I think of you every day that goes by,
I think of how good you were and I ask myself why,
God took such a good dog too young in his life,
And took an angel away from my wife.
But I know that in the end we all must go,
so when crying for you I must remember to know,
that when it is my time I will see you once more,
standing with my father on God’s golden shore.
You put your life on the line to protect me and your mother,
And felt so good when we saw all your brothers,
So I hope to remember when its my time for dying,
a courageous and loyal dog with the heart of a lion.
