It all began 15 years ago when my wife and I found a kitten…a chubby little kitten. As a kitten Ally would sleep with us and bite our toes every morning. Ally also had the nickname of “raucous”, because all night long he would be up to something. When bedtime came along, Ally would go to my wife to get his head, neck and cheeks rubbed. Ally would then come to me for another round of rubbing and finally return to my wife to sleep between her arm and body.

I would be up late working on my computer and Ally would sleep on my desk to keep me company. Ally did this for 15 years and last year Ally was diagnosed with liver and kidney ailments. We gave him medication for a year and on October 2, 2003, Ally passed away. He lay on our bathroom floor looking at us. His eyes told us that he would be moving on soon.

While we rubbed his cheeks, he lifted his head to enjoy the feeling. We held his paws and his breaths were moving farther and farther part. Ally inhaled his last breath around 11p.m., but his heart kept going for another minute. When Ally’s heart stopped beating, my wife and I were overcome with tears. We laid Ally in a box and my wife decided Ally would love to sleep with us one more time. She put the box next to her side of the bed and we three went to sleep.

Next morning, my wife and I carried Ally to the veterinarian to have him cremated. Ally was the first pet my wife has ever had and when the nurse approached us, my wife could not let Ally go. My wife held on for a moment and then gave Ally to the nurse. The ride home was a quiet one. Everyday we would come home from work and Ally would greet us in the living room.

The following day, we came home and stood in the living room waiting…….my wife started to tear. For my wife and I, we have been together for 16 years and 15 of those years was with Ally.

Ally, the memories of your meow, raucous, company, LOVE and even your hairballs will live with us forever. We will one day meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.

WE LOVE YOU, ALLY!
