Labrador Retriever
On June 23 1993 I lost my first Black Labrador Retriever
named Maria 15 years old to spleen cancer.
I had another dog Rex my field spaniel..Maria was the love of Rex’s life.
After her death I nearly lost Rex to his grieving so much for Maria.
My Vet suggested I either get Rex another play mate or put him to sleep.
I chose another dog for Rex. Rex went with me to pick out another dog..
another black Labrador retriever. This was his choice.
He especially liked the one that was playful yet a little shy
showing respect the whole time towards Rex.
Rex brought his new baby black Labrador retriever puppy home to
teach,”how to be a buddy”. For six years Rex was in-love with his
beautiful adopted sister Miss Chelsea Diane McCarroll-Jones.
Together they did obedience training played slept ate their meals
and grew to love one another devotedly and unconditionally.
Then the dreaded day came when Miss Chelsea was diagnosed with
bone and hip disease.
Rex and me tried everything from injections to supplements
to build her strength up in her little hips and legs and to take away all
the pain and suffering she was enduring.
The day came when Miss Chelsea could no longer hold her little body up
and Rex and me had to say our final good-byes to her before she left for
her journey to be with her granny and her friend Maria in heaven.
Rex is old now and he remains the love of my life.
Rex has taught me to love my immediate life and all that is going
on in it at this time. He has shown me that he has loved two very special
and beautiful black Labradors and how to love them unconditionally,
and how to go on with life even when the loved ones leave our earthly life
and we must face life here without our loved ones.
I know there is a “doggy heaven” for my Rex has shown me so.
God blessed me with the love of Maria and Chelsea and for
the courage and love that Rex has shown me here on earth,
and how to LOVE AGAIN.
I love you Rex.
Your,
Mommie
