Cocoa by Jason and Jamie Poland / Mommy

Cocoa was the second dog we had gotten in one year. She is a black german shepard with long hair. She hated baths and took forever to house break her.

My husband got her because our first dog snowball {3/25/2000-/28/05}needed companionship. Immediatly Snowball started to “kiss” her and show her who was King of the house and yard. They got along great!

Our three children loved taking her for walks..Snowball was not a dog to walk on a leash, you were merely a drag along when you took him out. Cocoa loved those kids as well. We never got her to play with any kind of toys unless Snowball had it first.

Snowball and Cocoa had six litters if puppies and to our amazement not a single white one. Oh yes, we did get patches of white here and there but not a solid white one in the 72 puppies she had.

After Snowball died she began to go down hill with her health. She would wait by the gate all day and all night. She started crying after about a week of not seeing him, she stopped eating for a while and left her looking awful.

We took her to the vet to see if she was sick and every possible test came back with nothing wrong. Cocoas’ vet said she is mourning the loss of her “husband”. It took all my strength not to cry after hearing this. We took Cocoa home and tried to get her to eat. After about three weeks she picked back up eating a little.

We had the luck of getting one of her puppies back after the owner could not take care of her, Sabre. Cocoa started to liven up and gain weight. I guess the comanionship of her puppy got her to health again.

Sadly, in July of 2006 she died. No bugs, no virus or worms were the cause of her death. I guess she just wanted to see Snowball…

We love and miss you Cocoa,
Cocoa
