Cookie by Maxine / Max (and Avril, Mam, Dad and everyone else.

Cook, the day I met you it was love at first sight, you were a happy, cheerful little fellow, with big brown eyes and the softest white ears.

You were sent to me to help heal a broken heart and that’s just what you did.

You were a free spirit who loved fresh air and wandering in the fields. You were inquisitive and friendly, you loved attention and you always got lots from everyone you met!

We went on so many walks together and you specially loved the beach, always stopping now and then to have a nose at this or that!

We used to snooze on the couch together, you would snuggle up to me with your head on my shoulders and your nose in my hair! I could hear you let out a long satisfied sigh every now and then as if to say…oh this is so comfy!

Whenever I came home from work I’d see your little fluffy head popping up at the window to welcome me home.

You loved treats, anything you could chew on…including a few pairs of shoes that I never even got to wear!!! you also loved cheese and crunching on peppers, funny dog!

The day they called me in college to say you’d had an accident was one of the worst days of my life. When I had to bring you to the emergency surgery later that evening I was so heartbroken I thought I’d never stop crying.

The next morning when they told me you wouldn’t make it, I was numb, I couldn’t believe you were gone…I couldn’t bear to go collect your bed and blanket that I’d brought you to the surgery in. Dad collected your stuff and he still has them, I still can’t quite bring myself to look at your stuff baby boy…

Now there is a white climbing rose in the garden, its just starting to grow now, I planted it there the week after you died so that I could always remember you when I looked out the window.

I think about you all the time, everytime I see a fluffy white dog I can’t help but take a second look…I know its not you, but just to see that little face again…

I have photos of you still on my phone and everytime Holly sees them she says “awwww Cookie” she still remembers you…she learned to walk chasing you around the kitchen! You were always so patient with all the kids, you never snapped or growled even though they would never leave you be!

Until we meet again Cookie-monster…
