Cat
My name is Daniel
I came to my live with Wendy after she saw me at her friendshouse
only two weeks old. I fitted in the palm of her hand.
I grew to be a big mischievous yet all too lovable monster.
She fed me on demand and treated me like royalty.
In return I destroyed her house shredded her curtains knocked
over her plants and caused general mayhem.
In time I gained two sisters Eloise Foursocks an enormously fat black
and white and Tabatha a small silver tabby with the most
beautiful eyes and tiny little paws. We all lived happily together cohabiting
with the mice rats and hamsters who became a form of cat television .
Wendy always trusted us and we never harmed our rodent
brothers and sisters. One of my favourate games was catch I would catch
a ball of silver paper and return it to Wendy tapping her foot to ask her
to throw it again. I liked to jump on her back and would put my paws up to
her until she would lift me and give me a cuddle.
She called me her big man I was a big fat ginger tom with a ginger beard
and mustache just like Vincent Van Gough,I suffered from the occasional
bought of feline acne. One night whilst we all slept fire broke out in the
living room where we slept. Wendy awoke and tried to get to us but she
couldn’t see anything for the smoke from the fire.
The memory of that fire is engraved on her mind it keeps her awake
so many nights. When the fire brigade arrived she had to be locked in the
back of the ambulance to stop her running back in to try and save us.
She kept screaming my name over and over. At the hospital she received
a phone call confirming we were all dead.
She wanted to die to come and be with us. The firemen gave us to the
cleansing department to dispose of.
We never saw her again she never got to say good-bye to us.
She had to return to the flat to collect any valuables before the loss
adjusters came. A metal door had been placed over where the
door had been.
It was like a tomb inside black as the night everything destroyed.
The rodents cages had been thrown casually to the floor as the dead
occupants were being removed. The litter tray sat in the hall with the
last remains of proof her cats had ever been alive.
The rabbit hutch, burned and empty had been thrown into the garden
on top of a pile of charred remains that used to be her living room.
She will never be the same again she will never forget the day that
the sun shone brightly as her world and family had disappeared In
a flame as if they and she never existed.
She would give her whole world to just be able to hug us and
be with us one more time.
See you in Heaven,
Daniel Tabatha and Eloise
My dear,sweet beautiful loving cats.
Mummy loves you so so so much.
