Duke by Melissa Tindle / Mom

I received Duke from a friend. When I first brought him home at 6 weeks, he weighed in at 16lbs. At Death he weighed approx. 145lbs. He brought so much joy into our lives. I have 3 children whom he followed everywhere they went. He never left them alone when
they were outside playing.

My husband works at night, so during the day he knew he was off duty. But as soon as my husband left at night for work, his job also began. He kept us safe at night, sleeping between the bedrooms of my children. He would protect them with everything that they did…which was alot. So Duke, had a full time job, but he enjoyed every minute of it.

Once he reached around the age of 7, his hearing was a little off, and old arther crept in his bones. But that didn’t stop him of his full time duties. He was on medicine for the pain.

There is so many stories to tell, and not alot of time to tell them in, but he kept us safe and sound. And I believe he is still here, My 4 year old son, still sees him, and hears him. He says that Duke still keeps a watch on us at night, and when they are outside playing, he still sees Duke close by.
It’s only been a couple of months since his passing, and everyday we miss him more and more, there could never be a replacement for his guardianship, loyalty, and Love.

With Love,
Duke
