On December 30 00 our Boxer Duke St. Francis passed away. He was such a joy to our home as we were not able to have children. We called him out K-9 Kidd. He came to our home on June 6 1990. He was 11 weeks old. Duke loved to play “ruff Ruff” with his dad Tom. He loved to play with his frisbe and his Notre Dame Football with his Notre Dame Football shirt on. I think Duke thought he was the K-9 gipper when he had is N>D> shirt on with his ball in paw. He loved the winter months and played in the snow with all the kids in our neighborhood.
Duke loved the Holidays and each holiday has a special way with the Dukester. He loved Thanksgiving and would come into the kitchen and would sit by the stove and sniff the stove door and smell the Turkey cooking knowing that he was going to get dinner with all the fixings. He loved Christmas and would go with us to cut down the tree and sit still while we decorated it. He loved it when I was baking Christmas cookies as he always got one and oh how he loved the gifts under the tree.
One year I sang at midnight mass and when we came home he had all his gifts our from under the tree-opened. He was so smart! For Christmas he got a frisbe treats N.D. Football & Shirt and he had a doggy sock filled with treats. He would sit by that sock until I saw to it that he got a treat.
For those of you who read this I hope you will always think well of the Boxers. They are anything but a mean ugly junkyard dog. They are very loving and you can hurt their feelings real easy.
We love you K-9 Kidd and stay at the Rainbow Bridge and wait for Mom & Dad and we’ll all walk into heaven as a family.
Love always Mom & Dad.
