Finster by Rosalie

Finster was our crazy dog. Originally she was my husband’s dog. I met Finster on our first date. The relationship that she and I had was always an odd one. We never really knew what to make of each other. She was sort of like an in-law: she came with the package and we had no choice but to tolerate each other. She drove me crazy every day of our life together. Damn I sure miss that girl!

The first time I met you you slimed me and ruined my $200 silk dress. You smelled really funky too. When you came to live with me you chased my cats dirtied my floors and ruined my furniture. I did not like you very much you did not like me very much. As time went on I kind of liked you. Then we brought Noah home. You were sweet gentle and protective. You loved him as if he were your own. You let him poke and prod you hang on you and sometimes ride your back.

I had a new found respect for you. As time went on I kind of loved you. When I was alone you stayed with me. All of those nights we studied together… When I slept alone you were at my side. When I did well you even wagged your tail for me.

I miss you my unlikely friend especially your crusty old wrinkled face and your curly tail. I know that I’ll see you again in many forms -a sunset or the smile of a new friend…I know that we will meet again and when we do I will give you a big kiss on your smelly mug and say Thank You. Thank You For teaching me a life lesson. Hope you’re not stinking up heaven too much! XOXOXO
