Francis “LTR” by John & Bekye Eckert / John, Bekye and your dinner pals Marra and Dixie

On October 2, 2008 I received an email about a very special little Shih Tzu in Iowa, a stray, blind and deaf, senior. Many like him would not have had a second chance at life but this little guy had two beautiful guardian angels, Meg and Stacy, whose kindness and compassion
found him his forever home.

We named him Francis, for St. Francis of Assisi, but his nicknames were what stuck. One was LTR (for Little Train wReck) and the other was Timex (“takes a licking but keeps on ticking”). In addition to being blind and deaf, he had a heart condition, pulmonary disease, and ongoing eye problems, finally having an eye removed in 2009. Throughout all his challenges, however, he was the sweetest, happiest, most loving little fellow you’d ever want to meet. He was our joy and delight, our miracle boy, and we loved him with all our hearts.

After 29 too-short months, his gradually weakening body finally overcame his valiant spirit, and our little sweetheart ran out of miracles. Our arms and hearts are empty and sad without our little train wreck, but we know he is now running free at the Rainbow Bridge, whole and healthy,
and always loved.

Enjoy meeting new friends
at the Bridge, until we can join you,
Francis "LTR"
