Frisco by Grant, Leanne & Alex Schmidt / Mommy, Daddy, Alex, Chevy & Rio

Frisco was born in I believe the fall of 1991. He was my Christmas present from my husband the year before we were married. He was the “runt” of the litter and he had a little attitude because of it. He was definitely “my” cat; no one else could touch his tail. He was my best friend and my confidante. He was helped me through so many things and never asked for anything other than some food and a spot next to me on the bed. I could have hid his litter box on the ceiling and he would have found a way to get to it. When we brought home our second baby, Stinky, some four years into Frisco’s life, he was extremely annoyed with us, especially me. He wouldn’t even look at me for a week.

Eventually though he grew to love her as well. When she was put down two years ago, he once again resumed his place as top cat, Albeit somewhat lonely after spending 11 years with a companion.

Last year, in September, he developed arthritis in his back requiring steroids. Once again, we were going through a rough time and I could not fathom at that point losing him too. A month and a half ago, two kittens found their way into our home and he once again was required to share his family. There was hissing for a few days but then we all settled into a routine. Last weekend, he stopped eating and drinking for the most part. He had developed a mass in his stomach which was likely the cause of some other unusual behavior he had been exhibited for a while. Today we decided to send him over the Rainbow Bridge to see his sister Stinky. It was hard but he deserved to be happy, healthy and purrfect once again.
