Gracie by Tom & Lynn Davis / Daddy and Mommy

This beautiful poem was written by Lyn Hamer Cook in memory of her Sweet Alyce B Goode.
It so beautifully depicts my connection to my Gracie, that I asked Lyn to use it here.

“The Five Seasons”

Walk with me a little while.
We will walk together in Spring,
with new life bursting around us.
Summertime, side by side we will lie in the sun together, our hearts warm with the good company of best friends. We will traverse fields in Autumn, with golden leaves soft under our feet, brisk wind at our backs.

Winter brings us to the cozy hearth, dozing by the fire, flickers of embers reflected in our eyes.
There is a fifth season, unnamed, unfathomable, when the leash must be hung on the wall, no longer making the visible connection we have to one another.
Yet the invisible one remains.
Always I will be a part of you as you are of me.
My friend, my heart, my Great Dane

In Loving Memory

Babelons Misty Grace

12/28/1994 – 11/27/2000

Our Gracie came to us in February of 1995. We went to (look) at puppies as I had never had a Dane, although my hubby had several through the years. Gracie stole my heart and when we were going to leave she stole my purse causing us to chase her around the yard. That was the beginning of a friendship that was to end much to soon.
Shortly after we brought her home we discovered that she was deaf. She learned hand signals quickly and soon discovered that she had us wrapped around her paw.

Her deafness never bothered her, she ran and played with the other dogs and shared her love and devotion with all.
She was our heart dog.
Though she never saw the inside of a show ring, she was a champion in her heart and to all that knew her. She was a wonderful friend and companion.
She loved to ride in our van, traveled with us wherever we went. People would stop to stare at the 2 dogs, (Gracie and Belle) one in the passenger seat one in the drivers seat. They would run for their cameras at rest areas and truck stops to get the picture.

Gracie bloated and torsioned on November 27, 2000,
and within 5 hours we had lost her. We were devastated, and still grieve for her.

We know she is waiting for us with our Belle, Midnight and Fred at the Rainbow Bridge. And in God’s good time
we will see her again.

Mommy and Daddy miss you terribly,

sweet, sweet girl.

Mommy and Daddy miss you sweet, sweet, girl.
