Cat

MY LITTLE HEATHER HAD COME TO ME AS A STRAY,

WE NEVER KNEW WHERE SHE CAME FROM.

SHE SHOWED UP ONE SUNDAY AT THE HOUSE WITH ONE PAW WITH

ONLY 1 TOE LEFT ON IT. WE TOOK HER TO THE VET ON MONDAY AND

HAD HER TOE FIXED AND HAD HER SPADED. THEN SHE WAS OURS.

WE THINK SHE WAS ABOUT 2 WHEN SHE CAME.

SHE WAS ALWAYS SO FULL OF LIFE. EVEN WITH ONLY 1 TOE SHE

COULD STILL CLIMB A TREE.

AFTER I GOT MARRIED I LEFT HER HOME WITH MY MOM.

MY DAD HAD PASSED AWAY BY THEN AND ABOUT A YEAR AGO AFTER

WE LOST THE OTHER GIRL WE BROUGHT OUT TO LIVE WITH US.

WE WENT AND GOT MY OTHER TWO FROM MY MOMS.

SO HEATHER WAS ALWAYS RUNNING AND LIVELY.

BUT THIS ONE NIGHT SHE WASN’T HERSELF SO WE TOOK HER TO THE

VET AND HE GAVE ME SOME MEDICATION FOR HER.

I STAYED UP WITH HER UNTIL 3 IN THE MORNING AND SHE SEEMED

TO BE BETTER. THE NEXT DAY I GAVE HER THE MEDICATION

AND SHE WAS FINE. I GAVE HER THE SECOND DOSE OF MEDICATION

THAT NIGHT AND HER HEART STARTED RACING.

SO WE TOOK HER BACK TO THE VET THAT NIGHT AND BY THE TIME

I GOT TO THE CAR WITH HER, SHE WAS CRYING LOUDLY

AND FIGHTING FOR BREATH.

I THOUGH WE WOULD LOSE HER ON THE WAY THERE.

THEN WE HAD TO WAIT BECAUSE THERE WAS ANOTHER EMERGENCY.

SO WHEN WE GOT IN THE VET TOOK AN XRAY OF HER CHEST A

ND SAID IT WASN’T AS BAD AS HE THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO BE.

HE SAID HE COULD TRANSFER HER TO A HOSPITAL AND PUT HER IN

AN OXYGEN TENT. BUT WE WOULD LOSE HER BY THAT NIGHT ANYWAY.

WE COULDN’T PUT HER THROUGH IT. IT WAS HARD BECAUSE WE HAD

LOST OUR OTHER GIRL NOT EVEN A YEAR BEFORE.

WE THINK HEATHER WAS ABOUT 14 OR MORE.

SO I HELD HER LIKE I DID MY OTHER LITTLE GIRL BEFORE AND BEFORE

THE DOCTOR GOT BACK I KNEW SHE WAS GONE.

THE VET SAID SHE DIED IN YOUR ARMS. I SAID THAT IS THE WAY I

WANTED IT TO BE. AND HE SAID WE HAD MADE THE RIGHT DECISION

BECAUSE SHE WAS GONE BEFORE THE SECOND SHOT.

I COULDN’T SEE HER SUFFER. AT LEAST SHE DIDN’T HAVE TO SUFFER

AS LONG AS MY OTHER LITTLE GIRL. BUT IT WAS SO HARD.

I GOT HOME I GOT SICK AND COULDN’T SLEEP.

I KEPT WAITING FOR HERE TO JUMP UP ON THE SOFA WITH ME LIKE SHE

ALWAYS DID AND FALL ASLEEP IN MY ARMS JUST LIKE A BABY WOULD.

SHE WAS MY SWEET ANGEL. AND I MISSED HER SO MUCH.

MY HUSBAND CALLED ME FROM WORK TWO WEEKS LATER AND ASKED

ME IF I WAS READY FOR ANOTHER ONE AND I SAID YES MY OTHER GIRL

MEGAN ELIZABETH IS A LONER AND WANTS TO BE LEFT ALONE.

SO SOMEONE THAT WORKS WITH HIM HAD A BOYFRIEND THAT HAD TO

GET RID OF HIS CATS BECAUSE OF HIS JOB HE COULDN’T SPEND

ENOUGH TIME WITH THEM.

SO SHE ASKED ME IF I WOULD LIKE THEM. HE HAD THREE BUT THE

MOTHER CAT WAS SICKLY. SO HE TOOK HER TO AN AMISH FARM TO LIVE.

WE TOOK THE OTHER TWO. WHAT A CHANGE AND HOW IT HAS FILLED

MY HEART WITH LOVE FOR THE TWO NEW KIDS WE HAVE.

WE WERE SO GLAD WE COULD TAKE THEM SO HE COULD HAVE PEACE

OF MIND TO KNOW THEY WOULD BE LOVED AND WELL TAKEN CARE OF.

BECAUSE HIS ONLY OTHER CHOICE WAS TO TAKE THEM TO THE ASPCA AND

ONE WAS 6 AND ONE 5 HE WAS AFRAID THEY WOULDN’T FIND A HOME.

HE ALSO WANTED TO KEEP THEM TOGETHER.

SO WE RECD. 2 CATS 1 BOY WE NAMED TYLER JAMES AND HE LOOKS

LIKE A WATERMELON WITH THE STRIPES HE HAS AND A GIRL PURE WHITE

WHICH WE NAMED MIKAYLA LYNN. THE LYNN FROM HEATHER LYNN.

AND HE ALSO SENT 2 LITTER BOXES AND 130 CANS OF CATFOOD

AND TWO BAGS OF LITTER. WE NOW HAVE 3 KIDS TOTAL OUR OLDEST

IS 17 AS OF MAY 1 AND IS NOT TOO HAPPY ABOUT THE ADDITION.

BUT WE TRY TO GIVE HER SPECIAL ROOMS TO HERSELF.

SO IT IS A BLESSING ALONG WITH THE TRAGIC DEATH OF

OUR LITTLE GIRL.

I SAY GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS BECAUSE IF WE STILL HAD

BOTH OF OUR GIRLS. I WOULDN’T OF CONSIDERED TAKING ON TWO MORE.

BUT I HAD HEATHER FOR AT LEAST TWELVE YEARS.

I WAS LUCKY TO HAVE THAT TIME WITH HER TO ENJOY HER

AND LOVE HER.

GOOD BYE TO MY LITTLE GIRL.

HELLO TO MY NEW LITTLE

BOY AND GIRL.

Tara
