Today we lost a very dear member of our family, Howie.
Upon letting him outside to enjoy the sun shining on the porch, a local dog that had gotten out (rottweiler) attacked him.
Both Howie and I fought desperately to get the dog away. I slammed my fist as hard as I could on the dog, pulled on his collar and even resorted to hitting him with a cherry timber, but to no avail. The dog bit Howe on the neck and shook him, thereby breaking his neck. It was very traumatic for both Mason and I who was there watching from the porch. I then called animal control and had them pick up the dog, they said the owners would have to go to court to obtain ownership of him as well as pay a citation. Unfortunately this does nothing to help with the pain of our loss.
We were blessed to have him enter our lives in July of 1994, when we adopted him as a baby kitten from the Human Society of Utah. He had beautiful markings and was very fun loving. He even played Hide n Seek with us! He would bring home “treats” for us consisting of mice and even a snake or two. At night, he would cuddle up under the blankets with Shane and I, until the early morning hours when he would find any piece of paper he could in the room and begin making noise with his paws, instead of meowing, to wake us up and let him in the garage. He enjoyed being outside, especially when the sun would hit the porch just right. We all have many fond memories of our cat; the kids will have the biggest heartbreak of all. We hope you will join us in a prayer for our Kitty and us. We will miss you sooo much Howie.
Thank you for giving us such wonderful memories
