Jasmine by John, Karen and Mickey Severson

Our beloved little Jasmine, we lost you so suddenly. No warning, no time to prepare or say goodbye. From the time you were a little kitten we tried to protect you and keep you inside but your little heart yearned for a bigger world. And so we set you free to discover God’s creations that you loved so much. The trees you climbed, the grasses you slumbered in, and the warmth of the sun against your little body. The sweet smell of fresh air and the sprinkling of rain.

The day we gave you your freedom we knew that there would be dangers. We made a difficult decision but for you it was the right one. We understood that little heart of yours and we wanted you to be happy. We gave you the world as it was meant to be for a little creature such as you.

I remember just a week ago I picked you up in my arms and reveled in your lightness, the feel of your shiny soft coat was magic. I said to you, “Jasmine, I wish you would let us hold you more often, you are so precious. You are such a wonderful little kitty.”

For the past eight years you have made our family complete and brought us so much happiness. Our hearts are breaking and our minds cannot really accept that you are gone. I don’t really think you are Jasmine. I think your little heart is still with us and the love we feel from you will comfort us. We will cherish your memory all the days of our lives. Love, Mom, Dad, Mickey and your orange and white brother Jasper.

We miss our little girl.
