I can remember back to the first day I met you,
a pouncy little puppy, I was 8 or 9…and I couldn’t wait to make you my very own. Dad was out of town, but everyone fell in love with you right away. After we took you hom and he walked in the door he exclaimed “we have a dog!”
It was actually pretty funny.

As the years went on, you were the perfect companion. Compassionate and loving, I could never lose you. When my brothers went away to college, you were like the silent sibling that I could tell anything to, my best friend. Still playful as a little puppy, I loved it when you would tug on the toys back, and roll around on your back grunting like the little pup you were. And the fact that I taught you to shake off on command was the greatest thing ever.

Haha, and I will never forget how you would piddle on Aunty’s shoe everytime she walked in the door…how excited you were!!And more years went by, and you weren’t so young anymore. You needed surgery on your leg, and you had special food for your kidney’s. But no matter what, I never stopped loving you.

You were my little shmoopy. Still by my side, I loved you so much. And then came the last couple months, I knew that you were hurting. But I didn’t want to give you up. I wanted my companion to be there forever! But as everyone tells me, you are in a better place now. And I think that maybe you are, maybe sitting in the recliner with Grandpa looking down on all of us. All in all, you were the perfect pet and
I will never forget you!

Thank you for all the years
you made me so happy.
