Kalla by Barb Lougheed / Mom

SWEET KALLA,

I saw you in the window of a pet store years ago and knew I must have you. You were so cute with your fancy pants and your one eyebrow. You were always independent and were never fond of other cats. You tolerated the other cats we had but never got to close to them. You preferred the company of people because you thought you were human.

You had a bad heart and everyday grannie gave you a pill to keep it pumping. She always said that she had to keep your heart going because it was so full of love. Well, your poor little heart finally gave out on you.

I miss you so much! I miss your purr, your playful games and your soft fur. At the same time, I am glad you are not suffering anymore. You are young and strong. You always loved to go outside and now you can play in the meadows under the shining sun (and even eat the grass).

Someday, you will see me heading your way. I shall call out to you and we will cross the Rainbow Bridge together. Until then, you shall live on in my heart. Please make friends with Sarah and Tommy. They have been waiting for quite awhile.
