Katie Lynn by Thomas and Linda Coleman / Daddy and Mommy

Today we laid our baby to rest. It was the hardest thing we have done in many years. Our home is empty now without her. I got our little girl for my husband Thomas for his birthday almost 11 years ago. At that time we had 2 other dogs Cherokee or Golden Retriever and Cheyenne or Cocker Spanial. Together we called them the 3 Amigos. We lost Cherokee almost 6 years ago and Cheyenne 3 years ago.
Now today we lost our little girl.

I remember the day we went to get her. When the owner let the puppies out of the cage , this adorable little puppy ran over to Tom and pulled on his shoe string and at his heart strings. When he picked her up he saw it was a girl, and that is what we wanted and hence
she was named Katie after his mom.

She was a welcomed member to our family. She brought us so much joy and happiness. She was Daddy’s little girl from the get go. From the time we brought her home she has been at his side and loved him deeply. She saved our lives one night. Tom had brought in a container of kerosene to warm up a bit and after about 15 minutes and she started barking loudly. She was barking at the kerosene container and Tom went to check it and it was leaking.

She was the Alfa dog in our house. She made the boys tote the mark. Katie had 2 favorite toys, both stuffies one was Moosie and the other was Piggy Bear. When we bought it for her, we could never figure out if it was a pig or a bear, so it became Piggy Bear. She was a hellion on wheels when she was young. Loved to chew furniture, drapes etc, but I finally broke her of that. She slept with us every night.

She loved to play with Tom and tease him. Tom could never leave the house without her crying until he got home. Now my poor Tom is the crying knowing that his little Katie will never come home. But one day Tom and me will cross the Rainbow Bridge and our Little Katie will be there waiting for us with Cherokee and Cheyenne to welcome us.

My Dearest Little Katie,

Daddy and Mommy will miss you more then you can imagine.
Home will never be the same without you.
Daddy and Mommy’s hearts are aching for you.
Love you now and forever our little sweetheart.

Love you Now and Forever,
Katie Lynn
