My dearest Koa,
It has now been 6 months since you left the earth you loved so much for hopefully a happier place where you can play all day with all of your friends at the beach. This is a poem I read a few months after you went away and it so much said everything I felt then and still feel today 182 days since that tragic day in April. Please remember how much you were loved.
I Only Wanted You
They say memories are golden
Well maybe that is true
I never wanted memories
I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you
A million times I’ve cried
If Love alone could have saved you
You never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly
In death I love you still
In my heart you hold a place
No one could ever fill.
If tears could build a stairway
And heartache make a lane
I’d walk the path to Heaven
And bring you back again.
Our family chain is broken
And nothing feels the same
But as God calls us one by one
The chain will link again.
You should never have died the way you did so early in your life but life just happens and there is nothing I can do to change that.
I love you today, tomorrow and always,
