Lady you have been the greatest dog. You lived a long and happy life of 17 years, but now it feels like it all flew by. My memories do not exist from before you came into our lives. I do remember going to pick you out & then Dad bringing you home zipped up in his fleece checkered jacket.
I remember you swimming in the river when we used to go camping, barking at dad’s golf cart and the vacuum cleaner, how you loved to play “find mama” & open presents (sometimes ones that weren’t yours!), and your “freaking out” around plants, the xmas tree, and table cloths. I remember taking you to “show-and-tell”, how you got presents on all of our birthdays, and the cute bows they used to put in your fur after a haircut.
I also remember how when mom & dad were gone you would come upstairs all by yourself to go to sleep with me. You sure helped me feel better- helped us all feel better- when we needed it most. That is why we had to help you feel better when you needed it.
You hung on to your life for so long- fighting through any problem that came your way, but we know that you were tired and deserved to rest. I can’t believe you will not be at the door to greet everyone, or run out to the car when I come home, or lay on the grass out front with mom.
I hope you are chasing squirrels, eating pasta, and watching over us. We will miss everything about you- even your doggie breath! You have definitely lit up our lives, and I know I will think of you every day until we meet again, you will always be my puppy.
