Lexy

was a sable ferret

There was an add in the paper for someone selling

their ferret and I answered it.

I went to pick Lexy up and she immediately jumped in my purse.

The woman owning Lexy did not know how

to properly care for her and she was very malnorished.

Over the next few months Lexy gained nearly a pound and turned into

a beautiful healthy weasel. I adopted her in 1995. She was 2 years old then.

In January of ’98 I noticed lumps on her neck and under her front legs.

Praying for the best I took her to my vet and he diagnosed her as having

Lymphosarcoma. He explained that her cancer was in the last stages and

there was nothing I could do but make her comfortable. With a heavy

heart I took her home wanting to make her last days good ones. My vet

also said that she only had a few weeks left. She gradually got worse

until she had a hard time eating and drinking from the lumps on her

neck and I knew it was time.

Lexy passed on to Rainbow Bridge on March 26 1998.

She amazed the vets at how long she fought but in the end,

she was too weak and thin and it just wasn’t her anymore.

Lexy was the sweetest soul I have ever known.

I have had many ferrets and other animals but she was my angel sent to me.

She never nipped as my other ferrets do and she followed around the

house like a dog. I loved her dearly and I am glad that I had the time to

spend with her even though it was short.

I will miss her always and I think of her often.

I know she is waiting for me and I think of the time we will

have together again.
