Dog

I am 47 and I have no children.

When I adopted Ilsa ten years ago I thought she would be with me always —

She had her first seizure last Friday night — my vet and the ER staff did

everything thing they could to control the seizures —

and then it was diagnosed as neurological — probably a brain tumor.

The steroids used to help shrink the tumor tore her little stomach apart —

so the anti-seizure medication didn’t do much good.

We took her off the steroids — but the damage had been done to her stomach —

she quit eating on Wednesday and went on fluids on Thursday —

I did get to bring her home every night and I was very thankful for that.

By Friday I knew it was time — the seizures increased and I just

couldn’t let her suffer.

I lost her just about 24 hours ago and I haven’t quit crying.

I just don’t know what I am going to do.

The worst part of it all — my male Schnauzer was diagnosed lung cancer

and I thought he would go and Ilsa would comfort me.

Now my Big Boy is taking care of his mom and missing his buddy Ilsa.

It just isn’t fair.

I will never forget my little girl with the big ears and

sweet little face.

Mary
