Luna by Beth and Shelby Cottrell / Mommy, Shelby and the rest of the animals

My Loving Luna,

Losing you was very hard for us. You were such a loyal dog. You watched over Shelby and protected her. I remember when we went to pick out a dog, you walked right up to Shelby who was only 2 then, and that’s when we knew you were the one. We then had to decide on a name, and Shelby was watching a show called Bear in the Big Blue House, where a moon named Luna talked to Bear. Shelby looked and pointed to you and said “Mommy, Luna” and thats how you got your name. Luna Louise, my very special girl.

You were so very faithful and loving, and kind and playful. You loved to play rope and ball. Rope was fun because you would literally hang from the rope when we swirled it around. You would jump up and grab onto it and not let go. You had such a powerful jaw. Ball was another favorite you could play for hours. You were with us for 11 1/2 years and we cherish and love every moment we had with you.

About 3 months ago you had a seizure and then they got worse, we took you to the vet’s and there we discovered you had a possible brain tumor and your liver was failing. The vet put you on medicine to help with the seizures and told us that as long as you weren’t suffering, we could keep you with us. Then the day came when we came home and found you paralyzed on the floor. I don’t know if you had a stroke or if the seizures did you in, but we had to make the heartbreaking decision to put you down and end your suffering. I know you are now with Mindy and in the world where there is no pain or suffering. You are running free and playing ball and rope and hanging out with Mindy again.

We miss you terribly. Losing you was so hard for us, i still look for you when i come home from work. You will always be in our hearts and we’ll never stop thinking of you. We will always love you Babakanushkies!!!!
Forever in our hearts you will be.
