Collie

This is in memory of Lurch and Sam (Lurch’s mom).
They were the best collies in the world.
Lurch was named so because whenever he would lie down
he moaned like the TV character Lurch. Sam was Samantha Sioux.
She loved beets and would help my mom pick them from the garden and then
“help” can them – just waiting for one to “accidentally” all on the floor.
Sammy Sioux choose my parents when they went to the breeder for a collie.
She was a loving caring dog who loved all babies – puppies birds and humans.
She was the best mom any baby could have.
When she passed over the Rainbow Bridge she was laying on my lap
while Dr. Jones (who is 75% dog himself) helped her on her journey.
My heart broke and went with her. She was buried in our back yard.
Lurch her son was the biggest puppy in the world. He never really grew up.
Physically – yes. He weighed about 100 pounds. But emotionally he stayed a puppy.
He loved giving high fives. All we had to do is say “Lurch – high 5” and his
front paws were on our shoulders and we received a very warm and wet kiss.
My best memory of him is when he would “sing” on Tuesday.
The civil defense sirens ring every Tuesday morning at 10:30.
Lurch would first cock his head from one side to the other and then lean his head
back and sing his big heart out. He taught our beagles to do the same thing.
I was not with him when Dr. Jones helped him to cross Rainbow Bridge.
But I have been told that Dr. Jones had tears in his eyes for Lurch.
Lurch loved Dr. Jones. Lurch would give hugs to anyone who needed – or
wanted one. Lurch is buried next to Sammy Sioux in our yard.
My Email address is my living memorial to both Lurch and Sam.
I will always miss them. They were my friends – my family.
