Max Green was born in Bossier City, Louisiana on March 31, 1997. Max crossed the rainbow bridge on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 in O’Fallon, Illinois.
Never really discovered his true breed but he looked like a cross between some type of shepherd and a St. Bernard. Max was so handsome and always received compliments. Anyone who came in contact with him would instantly fall in love with his innocent eyes, his bushy tail, and his lovable spirit. But along with his good looks came high jinks and mischief. He was the ultimate Alpha dog but he loved his little sisters Nippi (February 11, 2000 ~ April 25, 2011) and Prissi “Terra” Ebonni. He was their ‘play toy’.
He came as a package deal ~~ him and his brother, Pasco. Max and Pasco were a handful from the very first day they joined the family. We were not prepared to house two rambunctious puppies so we did not have adequate housing for Max and Pasco. We rigged up a makeshift kennel for the first day we were to be away from them. It did not work ~~ they nearly tore the house apart. Looking back it was hilarious!!! Because Max was the ultimate Alpha dog, he and Pasco fought one another viciously. So we decided to give Pasco to a nearby cattle farmer in Louisiana.
It is well known that puppies chew. And yes, Max chewed up everything he could. He chewed up a new pair of running shoes, door flaps, resin dog houses, garbage cans and lids, food and water bowls, and rocks ~~ yes rocks. He chewed (ate) so many rocks one particular day that it warranted an emergency visit to the vet. A few hours, a couple of hundred dollars, and a laxative prescription later, he was back to normal ~~ more chewing. This ‘puppy’ chewing phase lasted well into his adult years. It was who he was…
Being a member of a military family, Max was always ready for adventure, new experiences, and the open road. Max loved to travel. From Louisiana, he trekked to Alabama, Maryland, and lastly Illinois ~~ his final resting place.
There is so much more I can say about ‘my’ Max. The bottom line is I love and miss him dearly. It has been so hard for me. When I leave each morning, his sweet face is not there. When I open the door each evening, he no longer greets me by sniffing my butt. 🙂 I know he is in a better place now but knowing that does not stop or ease the excruciating pain within my broken heart…
Rest in perfect peace my big, little gentle giant. Maw-maw will see you again.
