Memories of you fill our hearts…
We met you a knocked kneed, floppy eared, frumpy pup,
Awkward in every way.
Found a place within our hearts
And with us you will stay.
You were so gentle with the children
We couldn’t give you up.
From there our journey began,
To deepen was our love.
You were big for a six month old lil’ guy,
Who didn’t like to be alone.
Just imagine our surprise,
The first time we left you home.
We thought it must have been a burglar.
Music blaring, curtains down,
Not a shelf left untouched.
You really covered your ground.
You loved to play this game called “Fetch”
But added your own twist.
Changed the name to “Keep-away”
And chased you, we did our best.
You were with us on all our adventures and
Many memories were made.
That filled our hearts of you, Kabe,
To cherish every day.
As you took your last breath here on earth
We were with you by your side.
We know you felt the comfort
Of our touch to say “Good-Bye”.
Now that you live way up in heaven
Yet not far from our hearts.
We will run and play again
But for now we must part.
Thank you for the unconditional love
You gave us to the end.
