Dearest Mena,
When we saw you at the shelter in North Carolina, we fell in love with you at first sight. You were the smallest, but sweetest of all the kitties there. Even though you already looked like Cassie and we were looking for a different kind of kitty, we couldn’t keep from falling for you when you wrapped yourself around our necks. We knew then you were our little “pashmina.” You gave us so much joy over the last 2 and a half years. You were so loving, playful, outgoing and everyone who ever met you fell in love with you. I will never forget your endless pit of a stomach, your desire to ignore all the expensive cat toys and just play with pens or highlighters on the floor, or your ability to annoy and charm your “siblings”.
My heart is so heavy with sadness at your early and untimely death. I am so sorry that I was irresponsible and let you go outside. I am so sorry that you were hit by that car. I am so sorry. I knew that you weren’t scared of cars and I should have known to be more careful. I am so sorry. I am so sorry. I am so sorry. I loved how happy you were outside and I am so sorry I didn’t protect you.
You were the most wonderful kitty and I will never forget you. Wherever you are, I hope you know that we love you and will miss you so much.
