Mister Socks by Athena, Samantha and David / Athena, Samantha and David

Mister Socks, or just “Mister” was bid farewell yesterday, humanely and with his family holding him close…

“Mister”‘s mom held him lovingly as he took his last breaths. We all cried together, even though my daughter and I had only been in Mister’s life for about 3 years… his mom, Athena was with him his whole life, and he became a most loved companion, a cat who loved to lounge on his back, or half twisted, looking as comfortable as royalty.
He could be such a goofball!!!

As Mister’s new Dad, I struggled, because I am not a “cat person”, but he won me over, because he was so loved by my wife and daughter, and my daughter grew to love him just as her step-mother did, and they bonded deeply.

Mister LOVED to talk, and came to you, like most cats, on his time, not yours, but loved to be held like a baby, and would grab onto you, just as a child might do.

But alas, after a long and thoroughly enjoyable life, his health faded, and soon he could not breathe well on his own… Mister stopped talking, and we all knew the end was near. We did what was humane and loving, to end his suffering and release him from his pain.

For my wife, Mister Socks was always there, through many difficult changes in her life. He was a companion and friend, a very independent cat who was loved deeply and will never be forgotten.

Our home without Mister is quiet tonight, but our hearts our filled with gratitude for having him in our lives.

We love you Mister!
