My husband and myself purchased him before he was conceived.
We had first pick of the litter 13 short years ago. People waited for our decision as
a silly pup with a brown patch over his left elbow kept an eye on me and I on him.
That was how we brought home our field-bred English Springer Spaniel,
Mr. T that sunny and warm August afternoon.
We could never have imagined the bond that would grow between us.
Mr. T left for field trial training as a pup and even entered some events.
We missed him too much which ended his career even though we were told he
was quite good. Mr. T’s favorite games were people.
He would get into the minds of all who met him. He could find the one thing in
anyone and make them laugh and feel good about themselves.
Many friends taught him tricks like to count add subtract swim under water etc.
Mr. T always found good in everyone in everything and shared his big
laughing smile rocks sticks and tennis balls with all.
He could look deep into the soul of all that he met.
When he was 10 Mr. T had a bad fall on ice chasing a stick. Two months
later he could barely walk was diagnosed with a brain tumor and given two
weeks to live. Miraculously he would get better when he was put on antibiotics
to counteract secondary infections from the medications he was on.
No one would believe me that he did in fact improve. Mr. T and I started
seeing any vet that would hear our story. I learned that as long as I
wanted to fight so did he. After 3 MRI’s it was decided to under go brain
surgery to drain a now diagnosed cyst in his cerebellum.
The surgery was thought to be unsuccessful and we brought him home.
He was so sick after 5 days at home my husband pulled him in a little
red wagon that we bought for him to the mailbox at the end of the driveway,
one of his favorite things to do. We then placed him under a shade tree and
sat with him. That was the day he decided to live.
Again miraculously he began to get better. One day he could pick up his
head then move a toe a foot a leg then could walk again unassisted after a
couple weeks. He also improved after cancer surgery a heart condition that
miraculously disappeared using alternative medicine and so many conditions
he was nicknamed the “miracle dog”.
On July 9 1998 Mr. T ate something dead which obstructed his small intestine.
Two surgeons and two anthesiologists though he would make it through surgery
but due to his other complications would more than likely not survive recovery
and that it would be extremely painful for him. On July 10 1998 our beloved
and most special friend Mr. T was humanely euthanized.
My husband and myself couldn’t bare to put him through any more pain.
Mr. T was here on earth with us to be my teacher. He taught me that there are
alternatives to any situation along with alternative medicine natural feeding etc.
and to trust to love to be strong and to believe in myself. Because we did believe we were able to share 2-1/2 more quality years together.
Time is something that one can never replace and are so ever grateful to have had it.
We terribly miss our guardian angel as Mr. T spent every waking hour
playing and watching over me.
We pray he is happy and that his Spirit is free to run and play in full health again.
If there is one thing Mr. T taught us it’s “Always Believe”.
We love and miss you our little “punkin head”.
