My Dearest Otis,
You brought joy to my life each and every day. I still can’t believe you are gone from our lives; never again will I look into those beautiful brown eyes, or lay my face against your fur, never run beside you down our road or break down laughing at your silliness. How dull and quiet the world is without you.
You were always such a happy dog, so filled with the joy of living – perhaps you knew you might not be here for long. You loved everyone with the same enthusiasm, greeted them with that excitement and sloppy smile. I always thought you were the most beautiful dog, and so very smart. I was always proud to be with you.
Oh you were a handful at times, but you knew we could never stay mad at you for long. You always knew just how to make us laugh. You were our boy, and we always tried to do the best for you. We loved you with all our hearts and you repaid us many times over.
So rest now my sweet boy, my beloved friend. You will be in my heart forever. And if there is a bridge I know you will wait for us. And one day we’ll come for you.
