Prairie Dog
Peanut was a little prairie dog which my son bought for
me on my birthday. I didn’t know much about prairie dogs and
didn’t even ask to receive one.
He was a very aggressive little animal but somehow I managed
to tame him. He hated living in his cage and therefore
he ended up living in my my walk-in closet.
We fixed it up so that he couldn’t escape and we put a
storm window on a track so that he could be visible when
we were in the living room.
My family use to come over looking for me and I seemed to
always end up being in the closet playing with Peanut.
He loved digging tunnels in his blankets.
His favorite food was mashed potatoes.
These little creatures are very intelligent.
What I miss the most about Peanut is when he heard my voice
at the end of the day when I arrived home from work
he would always yelp until I went to see him and pick him up.
He would sleep with me on the couch and cuddle.
I miss this little guy.
I have a picture of him on my computer monitor at work and
every once and a while scratch his belly just
like I use to do.
He is greatly missed.
